History of Themian Park
Themian Park is in the heart of downtown Newton. It was the first park in Newton, established in 1875. It is named after a women's club (Themian Club) who at one point took over the upkeep and maintenance of the park. Although the park is a beautiful place–large, mature trees, plenty of space to run and play–over the years the park has been neglected and needs repairs and improvements.
